115. Write about a time you mocked somebody.

Love’s a battlefield. You always hurt the one you love.

Which must be why I can never quite seem to keep my mouth shut when Logan Echolls is around. Then again, maybe not. Let’s try a new cliche on for size. You always hurt the one who you sort of detest whenever you’re not making out with him. That’s the ticket.

Ever since Logan decided he, you know, hated me, our entire relationship has pretty much been a battle of wits. I, being wittier by far, generally come out on top. Cock bong, anyone? But really, now - for over a year, no matter how miserable things were, a day just didn’t seem complete if I wasn’t trading barbs with Logan.

Later, a day wasn’t complete if I wasn’t swapping spit with Logan. Honestly? I couldn’t really tell you which option was more fun. Actually, I could.

But there are some secrets a girl just doesn’t need to tell, you know?

116. Write about your father.

Oh, you know all about my father! One, greatest guy in the world. Two, former sherriff of Balboa County. Three, best-selling author. Seriously, just read the book jacket if you want to know more about him. I don’t need to be feeding his ego any more.

Let’s talk about my mother, instead. You probably haven’t heard too much about her - the cheating hussy who thought she was too good for the greatest guy in the world? (For the record, she wasn’t. Mom, I hope you’re reading this.) Her name’s Lianne and she’s an alcoholic.

Once upon a time, she thought that she was living a fairytale. I guess maybe she was - she was the most popular girl in school, dating the most popular guy - you might have heard of him, too. Jake Kane, software mogul and Duncan’s dad. Unfortunately the fairytale didn’t last and she ended up marrying my father (aforementioned greatest guy in the world) and having an affair with Jake Kane on the side, right around the time that I was conceived, which led to issues of my paternity and possible incest when I started dating Duncan.

Thankfully, my dad - my real dad - is Keith. That’s right. The greatest guy in the world.

Unfortunately my mom couldn’t see that. She bailed on her rehab program, stole fifty grand from my dad and me, and right now I just don’t want to see her again. She just doesn’t care enough - she doesn’t know what it means to be a mother. I don’t know if she ever did.

I’m just lucky to have my dad. Keith Mars. Really, he’s great. The greatest, even.

(Your ego inflated enough, Dad?)

Topic 118. What does your dream home look like?

My dream home is very far away from Neptune. Vague? Sure, but it’s really the best I can come up with. I don’t really see myself settling down - every time I close my eyes I see myself somewhere new.

New York is large and anonymous. I could spend my whole life there and never run into the same person twice, though I’m sure you could say that about a lot of places; London, Paris, Los Angeles. Too much traffic in L.A., though, and too many people who’d recognize me. Because of Aaron Echolls, and Logan, and California.

Not Los Angeles, then.

Maybe a little bungalow in Tahiti. Perhaps Holcomb, Kansas. I have a feeling that no matter where I go, trouble is going to follow me. I feel bad about it already, about the people that I’m going to infect with my screwed up karma. My dad says that’s ridiculous, but in the same breath he reminds me that I’ve always got a home in Neptune.

“Home in Neptune.” Like that’s any great relief.

I don’t have a dream home. My dreams are mostly nightmares, anyway, so it’s not like it matters.

I’m going to be here for the rest of my life.
